Willy’s Kitty Angels Rescue Receives Grant from Massachusetts Animal Coalition, Inc.
Northbridge, MA (August 6, 2010) – Willy’s Kitty Angels Rescue (WKAR), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping stray and homeless cats in southern Worcester County, has received a $950 grant from the Massachusetts Animal Coalition, Inc. (MAC)
The grant will fund a new program that is designed to offer free spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations to feral cats. The program will be provided in collaboration with the VCA Blackstone Valley Animal Hospital. Clinics will be offered four times on weekends that alternate with Tufts Cummings Veterinary feral spay/neuter programs so that a steady stream of accessible sterilization surgeries are available to feral cats of the community.
“We are thrilled to offer these clinics to trappers, animal control officers, or feral cat caretakers to help control the population of feral and stray cats. The grant from the Massachusetts Animal Coalition helps us continue our goal of controlling the feral and stray cat population in Douglas, Uxbridge, Northbridge, Sutton, Grafton and Millbury. This program will spay/neuter an additional 180 cats in its first year,” comments WKAR president, Mary Ellen Richards.
The first clinic will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010. All clinic dates will be advertised on WKAR’s web site: www.willyskittyangels.org.
For more information, please contact Mary Ellen Richards at 1- 508-873-0336 or merdudley@hotmail.com.

SCARLETT has found a forever home with her foster mom and will be welcoming all kittens and "over seeing" kitten care. She will utilize her vast experience as a "mom" to comfort and guide orphaned kittens. Scarlett is a beautiful and wonderful girl, we know she will do a great job!
Scarlett was left behind at an apartment building in Dudley, and taken in by one of the tenants while pregnant. She was surrendered to Willy's and placed in foster care where she had SEVEN adorable kittens. We don't know how many other litters of kittens she has had, she is now retired.
SAILOR will live with our director and be the official "mascot" and poster cat for Willy's, his first public appearance will be on our new business cards. He will attend functions and adoption days, and play a critical role in education. He will also welcome foster cats and kittens, and help then transition to foster home life.
Sailor was left behind by his feral mom to die at the tender age of 2 weeks because he could not stand on his front legs. An alert homeowner knew the feral mom cat had four kittens, but only saw her move three of them and called Animal Control. Sailor was found under an overturned row-boat and transferred to Willy's to receive medical care. At five weeks of age Sailor started to use one of his front legs, then in another of week was walking on both. We could not be happier! Many thanks to Jane Doe's mom for naming him.
Welcome!
Willy's Kitty Angels Rescue, Inc. has been working in South Central Worcester County since 2005. Since our organization began, we have trapped 350 (and counting) feral and stray cats utilizing free Feral Spay Sunday Clinics to help control the cat population. Countless other cats, kittens, sick stray and feral cats have been helped by Willy's Kitty Angels Rescue, Inc.
Our work has been supported by the community and our volunteers, we do not have a specific benefactor for monetary support. On March 18th 2009, the IRS granted us 501c3 non profit status.
